28 April 2007 called "Law Enforcement"

Law enforcement
I have contacted (via e-mail) the county sheriffs from Augusta, Albemarle, Rockingham, Shenandoah, Page, Warren, Frederick and Jefferson (WV). In addition, I have contacted the Chiefs of Staunton, Harrisonburg, and New market. My intent was to make sure I wasn't breaking any local ordinances. I also wished to allow the sheriffs to notify the respective county Emergency Operations Centers, who will probably get telephone calls from concerned citizens about a man with a gun walking on the side of the road.
The sheriffs that responded have informed me that the walk won't break local ordinances, and that they would let the EOC know about my project.

Edit:  As events turned out, the notes I sent to county sheriffs did not go to Emergency Operations Centers, as I had hoped.  Thus, when local people saw me walking on the side of the road carrying a musket (an admittedly odd occurrence), they called the police to have them investigate.  Thus, I got to have chats with police officers in Albemarle, Highland, Rockingham, Warren, and Jefferson Counties.  Once I explained to them what I was doing, and showed them my driver's license, and demonstrated that the musket was not loaded, I was allowed to continue on my way.
