End of the first leg
On May 16th, 1862, Jackson kept his men in camp. On the 17th, they continued on to Stribling Springs in Augusta County. I walked the route of the 17th today (the 16th) to free up two consecutive days to take care of some twentieth century business. The route was east along US 250, then northeast along Stover's Shop Road and Stribling Springs Road. A delightful isolated vale with hills to the east, and mountains to the west. I made ten miles for the day, making 150 miles for the walk to date.
Tomorrow and Friday, I will be taking care of some business and giving my feet and legs some much-needed rest.
On Saturday, I will resume the walk, heading to Bridgewater.
