Socks
This week, I received socks from Mickey Black of Salisbury, North Carolina. Mickey's socks are first rate, and I needed a good product for the nearly 400 mile walk I am proposing to do.
The Valley campaign does have a North Carolina connection. The 21st North Carolina was the only Tarheel unit in Jackson's Army of the Valley District. The Tarheels were part of Isaac Trimble's brigade.
As for my personal connections to the Old North State, I have lived longer in Carolina than in any State except Virginia, and will always have a soft spot in my heart for Tarheels. Thanks Mickey, for the socks.
